How to Trace a Yahoo Email Address

If you've performed a basic Internet search of the email address and are no closer to learning the identity of the sender, you can request header information from your Yahoo! account about the email. The process is simple and provides specific details about the sender.

Instructions

1. Go to Yahoo! website and sign in to your email account using your user name and password.

2. Click "Options," then "Preferences."

3. Scroll to "Messages," which contains the option, "Show all headers on incoming messages." Move your mouse pointer to the circle to the right of "Headers" and click inside to select.

4. Click on the Yahoo! message you wish to trace. View header information such as the sender, priority rating and Internet Protocol (IP) address.
