Click on the "Start" menu in the lower left corner of the screen with the laptop mouse. Click on "Control Panel," then select "Network Connections." Right click on the mouse and click on the "Status" menu. Allow a few second for the laptop to look for connections in the area.

Click on the connection with your router name on it as soon as the laptop has located the connections in the area.

Type in the 10-digit key password that you used when setting up your wireless router. After you have completed this, your laptop computer will be set up on the Internet with the wireless router located in your home.

If the laptop is newer, it should already have a network or wireless card built in, if not you will need to purchase one of these. The network card connects to the cable or DSL modem.
