No matter what type of job you're applying for, supervisor experience is a positive qualification to highlight on your resume and cover letter. Potential employers will likely be interested in knowing that you can handle certain responsibilities that come with being a supervisor and managing other employees. Even if the job you're applying for isn’t a supervisor position, it shows that you are capable of moving into that role at some point. You should describe your supervisor experience on your cover letter when you apply for a job.

Read over the job description for the position you're applying for very carefully. Pick out any job duties or responsibilties that are listed that you completed while working as a supervisor.

Mention your supervisor experience in your first paragraph, along with a brief explanation of the job you're applying for, as well as the career fields you have experience in.

Describe your supervisor experience in the second paragraph of your cover letter. In the second paragraph, go into more detail about your job duties, responsiblities and accomplishments as a supervisor. Be sure to use the information you found while reviewing the job description to show the potential employer that you've had similar experience to the job you're applying for.

Use specific examples when describing your supervisor experience. Instead of stating that you supervised employees at your company, for example, say that you supervised 10 employees in the marketing department.
