This ground-hugging charmer covers itself with little yellow flowers with brown centers. It grows about 4 inches high and 6 to 8 inches long.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Check out nurseries for seedlings, which are easy to find. Starting from seed is a little tricky. Plant seeds 6 to 8 weeks before your region's last frost date.

  2. Step 2

Plant creeping zinnia seedlings in spring after the last frost date. It likes a well-drained spot.

  3. Step 3

Fertilize lightly once or twice during the growing season with a water-soluble fertilizer.

  4. Step 4

Keep the soil only very slightly moist. Creeping zinnias are fairly drought-tolerant.

  5. Step 5

Pull out plants and discard once frost kills them.

Tips & Warnings
  • This a great flower for hanging baskets, containers and window boxes.
  • Don't over-water. Your creeping zinnia will not thrive and may get fungal diseases.
