How to View MSN Chat History

Access your chat history in MSN Messenger.

Viewing your chat history in MSN Messenger is helpful when you need to look up something that you've discussed with a contact in the past. By default, MSN Messenger keeps a log of all of your chat sessions with all your contacts. You can easily pull up a full history, organized by date and contact, as long as your chat history has been enabled.

Instructions

1. Launch MSN Messenger on your computer. Double-click the icon on your desktop (if applicable) or locate it in the Programs section of the Windows Start menu.

2. Click the File menu.

3. Click "View history."

4. Select the contact whose chat history you would like to view. Click "OK." The chat history will be displayed. You can view it, copy it to another file (such as a Word document) or print it.

Tips & Warnings

• Change how and where MSN Messenger saves your chat history by visiting the "Tools" menu and then selecting "Options."
