How to Add a Feed to Internet Explorer 8 thumbnail
Use RSS feeds to avoid having to check your favorite websites manually.

One of the most effective ways of staying up-to-date with your favorite online content is by subscribing or adding Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds to your Web browser. Although not every website supports this feature, you can use IE8 to add feeds when or if they become available. Using feeds provides you with access to valuable information from various sources without your needing to manually visit specific sites.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Internet Explorer 8 and then visit your favorite websites to determine whether they offer feeds. If the Feeds button, which has a dot with two arcs coming from it like a visual representation of radio waves, is grayed out, the website does not offer feeds. However, if you see an active orange color on the Feeds button, the website offers RSS feeds.

Click on the arrow next to the Feeds button and then choose the specific feed you would like to subscribe to from the drop-down menu, if the website offers more than one. IE8 directs you to a separate page providing details about the feed you selected.

Select the "Subscribe to this feed" link. The "Subscribe to this feed" dialog box opens.

    • 4

Check the "Add to Favorite bar" check box and then click "Subscribe" to add the feed.
