How to Download the WOW Trial on a Slow Computer

"World of Warcraft" launches players into the lands of Azeroth as they battle mighty foes and join bands of other heroes for multi-player action. The game has relatively low system requirements and does not require a fast processor or video card in order to run. Blizzard Entertainment, the game's creator, offers two ways to download the game. Faster computers can use the trial download, which constantly streams content to the user as they play. Players on a slow computer must use a different option to access the game files.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Sign in with your current Battle.net or World of Warcraft username and password at the "Download World of Warcraft" page.

    • 2

Click the PC or Mac buttons to download the files for your computer's operating system. PC files will only operate in a Windows environment, and Mac versions are limited to computers running Apple operating systems.

    • 3

Double-click on the downloaded InstallWoW.exe file once the download completes. This begins the installation process. Using this universal setup instead of the trial client version prevents the continual streaming that bogs down and ruins play for users with slower computers.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you do not yet have a World of Warcraft trial account, you may get one for free at Battle.net. Battle.net is Blizzard Entertainment's official account management portal.

  • Do not choose the trial client itself. This client is included with the Universal download and the version available on the page will not work with a slow computer.
