Yahoo Messenger Won't Start My Webcam
One of the best features of Yahoo! Messenger is the ability to chat with friends and family over your webcam. Download and install the latest version of Yahoo! Messenger. As of June 2010, the latest version of this instant messenger application is Yahoo! Messenger 10.

Check your computer to verify if it has the following: Latest version of Internet Explorer, Microsoft DirectX version 9.29.1962 or newer and Microsoft Windows Update.

Uninstall and reinstall your webcam software.

Check the compatibility of your webcam with Yahoo! Messenger 10 by visiting in Internet Explorer the link under Resources entitled "Yahoo! Help: How to Test Your Webcam for Compatibility with Yahoo! Messenger."
The latest webcam control will automatically download and it will take a few minutes for you to see your image. Once you see your image on the webpage, your webcam is compatible to use with Yahoo! Messenger 10.

Test your webcam by using "Set Up Video and Voice" in the help menu of Yahoo! Messenger. Click "Help" from the Yahoo! Messenger menu and choose "Set Up Video and Voice."

Follow the instructions from the Video and Voice assistant to test your speakers, microphone and webcam to see if they work properly.
