How to Size Platinum Clad Sterling Silver Rings
Rings have long been a popular type of jewelry. Made from precious metals such as platinum or silver, they come in a variety of sizes, to fit the various sized fingers of an individual wearer. If you own a quantity of platinum-clad sterling silver rings, determining their size is a very simple undertaking, provided you acquire one essential tool and one common jeweler's supply item.

1
Acquire a jewelers' ring sizing mandrel. Made from stainless steel, wood, or plastic, each is a tapered rod with the various ring sizes stamped into the surface. They are available at craft supply stores, or online jewelry supply companies, such as Otto Frei, Wire-Sculpture or Beadaholique.
-
2
Acquire a quantity of jewelers' ring tags. Like ring mandrels, these items can also be purchased at craft stores, or online jewelry supply companies such as The Linton Company or Autostat Corporation.
-
-
3
Slide one of the rings onto the mandrel and gently slide it down until it is in complete contact with the mandrel. Take note of the size graduation line closest to the ring.
-
4
Use the pencil to record the ring size on one of the ring tags.
-
5
Remove the ring from the mandrel and attach the annotated tag to the ring.
-
6
Continue measuring and tagging the rings until you have determined the size of each one.
