The Compaq Evo N180 is a laptop computer that runs Windows-based operating systems. Although the laptop does not have a built-in wireless adapter, it is possible to install a wireless card into one of the USB ports on the side of the laptop. These ports allow you to connect and run additional hardware off the system, including a wireless adapter.

      Power on the Compaq Evo N180 laptop computer and wait for the operating system to completely load.

      Slide the wireless card into one of the two USB ports on the computer. A light appears on the drive when the card is completely connected with the system.

      Insert the driver installation CD into the disc drive of the Compaq Evo N180. In a moment the driver installation wizard appears on the screen.

      Select "Next," then read through and accept the end-user agreement. Choose "Next" two more times (this leaves the installation name and location as the default settings), then click "Install" to install the software drivers onto the computer. Once complete, restart the computer and the wireless card is ready for use.
