How to Detect Display Drivers

How to Detect Display Drivers thumbnail
Detect your display drivers.

All drivers are easy to access through the Device Manager tool in Windows. This tool shows all known hardware components that are installed on your computer, and can even alert you to devices that weren't installed properly (there will be a yellow exclamation point next to an unknown device). Windows should detect the display drivers whenever you connect your video card, but you can examine them yourself by accessing the properties option of the device.

Instructions

    • 1

Select "Start," then "Control Panel." Click on "System" or "System and Security" if using Windows 7. Click on the "Device Manager" tool to open. Click the left arrow beside the "Display adapters" option.

    • 2

Right-click the display adapter or adapters listed (in case there are multiple video cards installed) and choose "Properties."

    • 3

      Click on the "Driver" tab.

    • 4

Select "Driver Details" to see all the files installed that are associated with that driver.
