How to Make Football Jerseys for Youth Teams

When members of a youth football team receive their jerseys, it can fill the players with pride and a sense of team unity. Purchasing custom-made jerseys for the team is often expensive. Making your own team jerseys can result in substantial savings. While it requires some work on the part of a devoted coach or team parent, it's a fairly simple task. Be sure to set aside enough time before the first game to get all the supplies and do the necessary work.

Things You'll Need

• Blank jerseys
• Iron-on transfers
• Iron

Instructions

1. Obtain the correct jersey size, last-name spelling and player number for each member of the team.

2. Purchase blank jerseys in the appropriate sizes and team color from a sporting goods store or supply shop.

3. Purchase iron-on letters and numbers. Get enough letters for the players' last names and team name for every jersey. Iron-on numbers and letters are available from a number of craft stores, online specialty shops and T-shirt printing shops.

4. Follow the specific instructions that come with your iron-on transfers and affix the team name, player name and number to each jersey.
