A tree stand provides a better vantage point for hunters.

Hunting from tree stands gives hunters an improved vantage point for sighting large game. However, tree stands also create dangers for hunters. Exposure and the risk of falling are dangers you must consider and prepare for if you choose to use a tree stand. Fall protection with a properly secured five-point harness greatly reduces your likelihood for injury if you fall while ascending, are on top of and descending your tree stand.

Instructions

    • 1

Lay your harness on the ground in front of you with the leg holes centered.

    • 2

Step into your harness and pull it up to your torso, placing the shoulder straps over your shoulders.

    • 3

Close the buckle for the strap that wraps across your chest.

    • 4

Tighten all of your harness straps until the harness fits snugly against your body. Your harness should never hang on you.

    • 5

Attach the D-ring or carabiner of the harness lanyard to tie-offs on the stand as you climb up and down the ladder, as well as when you are on top of the stand.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check your harness for frayed and worn spots before every use. Your falling weight could easily snap a strap that is not in perfect condition.

  • Always make sure your harness is snug. A loose harness will catch your weight in the wrong places and can cause more damage if you fall.
