How to Push Domain Names on Go Daddy thumbnail
Pushing a domain does not require complicated paperwork or contracts.

Just as you can transfer ownership of a vehicle or trademark, you can also transfer domains. A number of registrars have a built-in system for this process, which is called "pushing" in the domain industry. Using the "Account Change" feature at Go Daddy, it takes only a few minutes to move a domain to another user account.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your account at Go Daddy. Under "My Products" on the left menu bar, click "Domain Manager".

    • 2

Check off the domain you wish to transfer and select "Account Change" from the top menu bar. It is between "Nameservers" and "Delete Selected".

    • 3

Enter the email address of the account you wish to push the domain to. You can also enter the account holder's customer number. Click "Next". Enter the contact information for the new registrant. Click "Next" again. The new owner must have a Go Daddy account. Anyone can register an account for free.

Check off the box stating that you agree to the "Domain Name Change of Registrant Agreement". Check off the box below stating that you understand the rules regarding transferring "pushed" names to other registrars.

    • 5

Click "Next" to continue. Select "Finish" to push the domain. The transfer will not be complete until the new domain owner accepts the transfer.

Tips & Warnings

  • Click "Cancel" at any time to stop the account change.

  • Once you push the domain, it's gone. It is not possible to get the domain back unless the new owner declines the transfer.

  • The new owner cannot transfer the domain to another registrar until 60 days after the transfer.
