1. Turn on the printer and computer, but do not plug the USB cord into either one.

2. Insert the installation CD that came with the printer into the computer's optical drive, if you have it, and proceed to Step 3. If you do not have the installation CD, open your web browser and go to Epson's home page, then click on "Drivers and Support." Select "Printers," then "All-In-One" and finally click on "CX5000." Select the type of operating system your computer uses from the drop-down menu. Click on the link for your exact operating system. Choose where on your computer's hard drive to save the installation program. Once the download is complete, double-click on the program to launch the installer.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions in the installation software, which will vary depending on your operating system.

4. Connect the USB cord to the computer and printer when prompted.

5. Click on the "OK" button once you have made the connection, to finalize the installation process.
