How to Get Warranty Status of HP Laptop
When you purchased your HP laptop, your product was covered by a warranty. If you experience problems with your laptop, a warranty may cover the costs of repairs and parts. Unfortunately, the warranty does expire. If you are unsure of the warranty status of your HP laptop, check it online through a warranty status tool or by chatting with a technical support representative.

Locate the serial number and product number for your computer. The serial number is located on the Service Tag sticker that is affixed to your computer. The numbers can also be found on the Universal Product Code sticker.

Access the HP website to check your warranty status (see References).

Select your country from the drop-down menu. The United States is selected by default.

Enter your serial number and product number. The numbers should be entered in the same way they appear on the Service Tag sticker. Do not include the letters and numbers following the hyphen for your product number.

Submit the information entered by clicking "Submit."

Review the warranty information. The status and end date of the warranty is displayed in the center of your screen.

Locate the serial number and product number for your laptop. Access HP's real-time chat support website (see References).

Select your product. Choose the link that corresponds with your laptop product and product series. Agree to the disclaimer by clicking on "I Accept." The disclaimer sets the boundaries for the services provided by chat support.

Select the region, location and product category. Choose the "Locally Connected" under "Connection" to chat with a representative about your warranty.

Install the online support add-on. Click "Install" in the pop-up asking for permission to install the add-on for chat.

Fill in your personal information and click "Submit." The information you enter is transferred to a technical support agent to further assist you. The agent will provide the status of your warranty to you.

Tips & Warnings
If you are unable to read the Service Tag sticker to locate the product and serial number, there is an alternative to retrieve the numbers. Press "CTRL+ALT+S" and the support information for your device is displayed in a pop-up window.
If your warranty status is not found, double-check the serial and product numbers and reenter the numbers.
Chat support is only available during certain hours.
