How to Detect Video Cards

How to Detect Video Cards thumbnail
Your video card connects your monitor to your computer.

Your video card is a piece of hardware that enables you to view the graphics and words that appear on your computer monitor. Drivers allow your computer to utilize the video card and keep your display running properly. Drivers must be updated periodically and may even need to be replaced if you are noticing issues with your graphics or video. In order to replace those drivers, you must detect and identify your video card.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the "Start" button, in the lower-left corner of your desktop, to open your Start menu.

    • 2

    • 3

Click on the "Display" tab. Your video card's information is listed in the tab. The "Name", "Manufacturer" and "Chip Type" all refer to your video card.
