How to Make Homemade Bubblegum Machines
If you are trying to think of a homemade birthday or holiday gift for the kids or the retro enthusiast, consider making a bubblegum machine. You will need to buy a few supplies from the garden shop and craft store, and the rest is easy. Decorate the machine with paint color or clip art of your choice.
Things You'll Need
- 1 terra cotta plant pot (4-inch diameter)
- 2 terra cotta plant saucer (4-inch diameter)
- 1 clear, glass bubble bowl (base should fit in saucer)
- Clear industrial strength adhesive
- White glue
- Acrylic paint
- 1 wooden ball (1 and 1/4 inches)
- Bubblegum balls
- Cardstock or clip art
- Markers
Instructions

1
Paint the terra cotta pot, saucers and wooden ball using an acrylic paint color of your choice. Let them dry completely. Acrylic paint may dry in several minutes, but it might be safer to wait one to two hours before completing the next step.
-
2
Turn the terra cotta pot upside down. Apply some industrial strength adhesive to the pot's bottom and place one saucer, flat side down, on the sticky surface. Flip the other saucer over, so the flat side is facing up, apply adhesive to its center and place the wooden ball on the adhesive. Allow both to dry overnight.

3
Place adhesive around the edge of the saucer that is glued to the pot. Position the bubble bowl on top of the saucer. Let this dry.
-
4
Pour bubblegum balls inside the bowl and place the lid (the saucer with the wooden ball) on top of the bowl.
-
5
Create a decorative piece on cardstock to glue on to the terra cotta pot. Draw or add clip art of your choice. Color it in. AllFreeCraftscom recommends using a picture of an antique candy machine dispenser. WrapCandy recommends making a birthday greeting card and giving the bubblegum machine to someone as a gift.
