How to Find a Delivery Job
Workers in delivery jobs take full responsibility for products while they are in transit. Products must arrive at the time agreed upon and cannot be damaged during travel. Delivery jobs range from such industries as food and restaurants to wholesale, manufacturing and newspapers. Finding a delivery job requires that one has the proper licensure and experience.

1
Get a driver's license. Register for your written and behind-the-wheel exams with your state's Department of Motor Vehicles.
-
2
Purchase personal insurance. It is against the law to drive without car insurance, and it will be essential to prove to your potential employer that you are protected on the road. Many delivery companies have their own insurance to cover accidents if you are driving company vehicles, but having your own insurance will keep you in legal compliance if driving your own car on the job.

3
Write a resume. Even if you have little delivery experience, companies are always interested in hiring educated, responsible employees. Include all education, training and experience you have had in the work force proving that you are a leader capable of handling responsibility. Use this resume to send to companies, take on interviews or post online to increase your exposure as a job seeker.
-
4
Make a list of all local companies you can think of that might need delivery help. These may include restaurants and pizza shops, appliance stores, warehouses, parcel delivery services and flower shops.
-
5
Talk to any delivery worker that you happen to meet. Inquire about their position and company, and ask if they know of any vacancies. These delivery workers may have the inside knowledge about their employer can help you land a job.
-
6
Check the classifieds section of your local newspaper for delivery positions. Companies that are mainly local might not feel the need to advertise nationally on a website like CareerBuilder.com.
-
7
Post your resume to online sites where delivery jobs are posted. These may include job sites such as CareerBuilder.com, Indeed.com, Jobs.com or TopUSAjobs.com. These sites are available nationally, so they will often have positions that are outside your geographic area. However, they will have postings for long-haul truck driving positions.
