How to Determine the Manufacturer of a Flash Drive

Flash drives help back up important computer information.

Flash drives are basically external storage for your computer. They come in the form of a small device that you can plug into any USB port on your computer. You can save files to your flash drive to help protect them. Backing up your files ensures that if anything happens to your computer, such as getting a virus that causes it to be inoperable, your data and files are safely stored on your flash drive. Many companies make flash drives, and you can easily determine the manufacturer.

Instructions

1. Look at your flash drive. Many manufacturers will print their names directly on the flash drive.

2. Plug the flash drive into a USB port on your computer if you can't find the manufacturer's name on it.

3. Go to the start menu, and click on "My Computer." Under "Devices with Removable Storage," you should see your flash drive listed, and the description usually includes the manufacturer's name. If not, right click on the flash drive icon and click "Properties." You'll find the name of the manufacturer there
