The Zebra LP 2844 is a thermal barcode printer that doesn’t take up a lot of space on your desktop. The printer uses 4-inch labels and has features and settings for customizing individual printing needs. Since the printer has no interface on it, you have to send commands and controls from the computer that is connected to the printer. If you change the settings and your printer stops working, Zebra allows you to send a command to the printer that will change all the settings back to their factory defaults.

Type "Devices and Printers" in the Windows 8 Search box and select “Devices and Printers” from the list of search results.

Right-click the “Zebra LP 2844” printer and select “Properties” from the drop-down menu.

Select the “Printer” tab, which will be the second-to-last tab on the right side of the window.

Click on the “+” symbol next to “Advanced” in the main portion of the properties window. Then click the “Tools” button that appears.

Place the cursor into the “Direct Command for Printer” box. Type in “^default” and then click on the “Send” button. Your Zebra printer will now revert back to its factory default settings.

Tip

You can do the same thing from the Windows Terminal command prompt by typing "ECHO ^default>LPT1" and pressing the Enter key. Replace LPT1 with the appropriate printer port as needed for your system.
