How to Become a Midwife in Georgia
When planning the birth of a baby, many women choose to have midwives attend the delivery rather than obstetricians. Certified nurse midwives provide prenatal care and attend births in hospitals, birthing centers and women's own homes. They also provide well-woman care, routine gynecological examinations and family planning services. In Georgia, a nurse must earn a master's degree and pass an exam administered by the American Midwifery Certification Board to work as a certified nurse midwife. As of November 2009, the median salary for certified nurse midwives was $90,082, according to Salary.com.
