How to Make a Pokemon Costume

Pikachu is easily the most popular character in the Pokemon series. Created in Japan in the 1990s to be part of a Pokemon video game, Pikachu has since risen in popularity and graced merchandise, games and television shows. He's a cute yellow little guy who often accompanies the character Ash. Pikachu costumes can be expensive if purchased from a store, but you can pull together your own costume for much less at home. Don't forget to add a Pokeball as an accessory.

Instructions

    • 1

Start with an all-yellow outfit of some sort. Use a plain yellow sweatsuit or pajamas. Or, opt for a yellow top and pants. The brighter the yellow, the better.

    • 2

Sew a long tail using yellow fabric. Stuff the tail with cotton batting and sew closed. Sew or pin the tail to the bottom of your costume. Add a yellow feather boa to your tail to make it fluffy. Or, opt to pin a yellow feather boa to the bottom of your costume. Add a wire to make a lightning-bolt shape.

    • 3

Create a lightning bolt out of black fabric. Sew or glue on your back.

    • 4

Make your ears. Use a yellow headband or ball cap as the base. Cut two rabbit-style ears out of yellow poster board. Color the tops of the ears black. Tape or glue them on to your cap or headband.

    • 5

Decorate your face with makeup. Pikachu has bright red circles on his cheeks, big black eyes and a little black nose. Use a picture of Pikachu and make yourself up to look as much like the character as possible.
