How to Upgrade From IE 5

Internet Explorer (IE) 5 was the official web browser for Windows 95. Several new versions of Internet Explorer have been introduced since then, including IE 6, IE 7 and the latest IE 8. If you have a Windows XP computer, you can upgrade from IE 5 to IE 7 or IE 8. However, if your computer's operating system is older than Windows XP, you will be able to upgrade only to IE 6, which supports Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows ME edition.

Instructions

  1. OS Older Than XP

    • 1

Go to the first link in the "Resources". This page will take you to Microsoft's website where you can download Internet Explorer 6.

    • 2

Click the "Download" button. You will be prompted with a dialog box, which will ask you whether you want to save, open or cancel "ie6setup.exe" file. Click "Save" and specify "Desktop" as the destination folder for the setup file.

    • 3

Run the setup file after it downloads.

    • 4
