How to Download a Twitter Icon for WordPress

Downloading a Twitter icon is as simple as saving a photo.

To promote yourself online, it's a good idea to put a link to your Twitter account on your website. If you'd rather not make your own, there are thousands of talented graphic designers who post icons for you to use online. With such a wide assortment of icons to choose from, you can pick one that matches your WordPress site's layout. Downloading these icons is as simple as saving a photo to your computer. Once you pick an icon, it only takes a moment to download it.

Instructions

1. Find a website that provides Twitter icons. Many stock photo websites have them, as well as web design blogs and website resource sites. (See Resources for one such site.)

2. Find an icon you like. You can pick several and see which works best on your site.

3. Make sure the file type of the icon is safe for the web. The best image extensions to use on the web are JPG, GIF and PNG. You can save other file types, such as EPS and BMP, then open and save them in an acceptable format before uploading them to WordPress.

4. Save the icon to your computer. Each site has a different way of doing this. Some will have a link for you to click to download the image. Other times you'll have to right-click on the image and choose to save it. Download it to a place where you can easily access it. Your desktop is a good place.

Tips & Warnings

• You can upload your icon to WordPress either through your FTP program or with the Wordpress media uploader tool.

• Make sure that the icons you are downloading are for the public to use. Don't just save an icon from someone else's site to your computer.
