How to Manually Uninstall Windows Live Messenger
In the winter of 2005, Microsoft's instant messaging platform, MSN messenger, upgraded and launched as Windows Live Messenger. The new Windows Live Messenger offered many more options than its predecessor, including offline messaging, multiplayer games, and integration to various social networks. Computers equipped with Vista or Windows 7 come with Windows Live Messenger pre-installed. If Windows Live Messenger is not for you, or you simply do not have the room for it on your hard drive, it can be easily removed by following a few simple instructions.

Click "Start" in the bottom right hand corner of your desktop.

Click "Control Panel" and then click "Add or Remove Programs" or "Uninstall a Program" if using Vista.

Scroll down until you see "Windows Live Essentials" and right click on it.

Click "Uninstall" and click "Continue" if you have Windows Vista and it asks for permission to uninstall or change it.

Click the bubble next to the word "Uninstall" to select it and click "Continue."

Click on the box next to the word "Messenger," until a check mark appears inside of it and click "Continue."

Click "Close" and restart your computer.
