How to Change the Ventrilo Server Name

Press the push-to-talk key, left "Ctrl" by default, and talk into your microphone on Ventrilo.

Ventrilo is a voice-over-IP application. Ventrilo users connect to a Ventrilo server and talk into their computer's microphones, broadcasting their voices to other Ventrilo users on the same server. The Ventrilo server's name appears in every connected Ventrilo client's window. You can change the Ventrilo server's name by editing the Ventrilo server's configuration file.

Instructions

1. Open the Ventrilo server's configuration file in "Notepad" by clicking "Start," "VentSrt" and "Edit INI File."

2. Highlight the current server name at the top of the "Notepad" window after "Name=" with your mouse. The default server name is "Server 1."

3. Delete the current server name by pressing "Delete."

4. Type a new server name for the Ventrilo server so that the line reads "Name=Server Name," replacing "Server Name" with your custom server name.

5. Save the configuration file by clicking "File" and "Save" in the "Notepad" window's menu.

6. Restart the Ventrilo server if it is running. Close any open "Ventrilo Server" windows by clicking the "X" at the top-right corners of their windows and then click "Start," "VentSrv" and "Ventrilo Server."
