Instructions

    • 1

Find the studs in the wall with an electric stud finder. Mark each stud on the wall with a pencil.

    • 2

Create lines on the wall for the top of the base cabinets and the bottom of the wall cabinets. The standard height of a base cabinet is 34 ½ inches. Mark that measurement on the wall with a pencil and then create another line approximately 19 ½ inches above the first line for the bottom of the wall cabinets.

    • 3

Screw a long screw into each of the studs along the line for the wall cabinets. Leave part of the screw sticking out so that it can help support the wall cabinets while they are being installed.

    • 4

Lift the wall cabinet into place. Use wooden shims to adjust the cabinet. Adjust the cabinet until it is level and plumb. Drill two holes through each of the mounting rails and into the wall studs. Attach the cabinet to the wall with 2 ½-inch drywall screws. Use a utility knife to cut away the excess wooden shims that are sticking out from behind the cabinet. Repeat with each wall cabinet and clamp and screw the cabinets together in addition to screwing the cabinet to the wall.

    • 5

Place the base cabinet in place on the floor. Place wooden shims under the cabinet until it is level and plumb. Drill holes through the cabinet and into the studs. Once the holes are drilled, screw 2-½ inch drywall screws through the holes to secure the cabinets into place. Repeat with each base cabinet. Clamp and screw the cabinets together as well as screwing the cabinet to the wall.

    • 6

Install the toe kick on the bottom of the base cabinets. Use a pneumatic nail gun to nail the toe kick to the bottom of the base cabinets.
