Homemade Drawstring Pouch Bags

A drawstring pouch bag is an extremely useful bag to carry with you because it can hold personal items inside it that can be securely concealed with a cinching drawstring. When you make a handmade cloth drawstring bag, it is important to employ a few basic sewing techniques that will ensure the bag can be cinched properly.

Things You'll Need

• 1/2 yard lightweight cotton fabric
• Thread
• Needle
• Scissors
• Twine

Instructions

1. Fold 1/2 yard of lightweight cotton fabric in half width-wise, with right sides together.

2. Sew along both sides of the fabric, leaving the top open. Set aside.

3. Cut a piece of twine to measure 18 inches long.

4. Wrap the twine around the open end of the bag, around 1 inch below the top.

5. Fold the fabric over the twine, and sew along its edge to secure it to the rest of the bag. Leave around 1 inch unsewn to allow the twine drawstring to hang loosely.

6. Turn the bag right side out, and bring it with you to hold your personal items.
