Problems with the timers cause the pump and filtration system to not keep the pool clean.

Intermatic pool timers manage the swimming pool's pump, filtration and heating functions. The timers are dependent on the correct time of day being set. Problems with the timers can cause the pool to be too cold and cause the pump and filtration system to not keep the pool clean enough. So, it's worth troubleshooting the timer if you notice any of these important functions not taking place regularly.

Instructions

    • 1

Set the time if the timer isn't turning the pool's functions on and off when you want it to. Set the clock by holding down the button marked "Clock" while at the same time pressing the hour and minute buttons. Release the "Clock"button to set the time.

    • 2

Replace the battery if the display is blank. Even if the clock is wrong on the Intermatic pool timer, the functions will take place---just not at the right time. If the display is blank, nothing will happen, so change the batteries out if you don't see anything on the display.

    • 3

Review the programming. Use the "Timer" button to toggle through the programming. Look for a lack of on and off times, which can be an indication that the equipment will be running all the time---uneconomical and inefficient, or not at all---a potential problem.

    • 4

Override the programming temporarily if the Intermatic pool timer hasn't been operating the equipment as required. Press the "Select" button until the indicator bar is under "On." This will force-run the equipment, like the pump and heater. Don't forget to turn it back to "Off" or "Auto" when you're done running the equipment.
