How to Make the Right Mouse Key More Sensitive

Changing the sensitivity of the mouse keys is a simple task.

There are few things more frustrating than trying to click on a link or icon on a computer and the mouse not responding quickly enough. Fortunately, changing the sensitivity of both the left and right mouse keys is quick and easy to do.

Things You'll Need

• Computer
• Mouse

Instructions

1. If you are using an Apple Mac, go to "System Preferences," choose the "Keyboard and Mouse" icon, and then select the "Mouse" tab at the top of the floating window.

   If you have a Windows operating system, go to "Start," select "Control Panel," and then select the "Mouse" icon.

2. On an Apple Mac, on the right-hand side of the floating window, move the sliding bar under the "Double-Click Speed" header to the right, toward the "Fast" end of the bar.

   For Windows, select the "Buttons" tab at the top left of the floating window. Move the sliding bar under the "Double-Click Speed" header to the right, toward the "Fast" end of the bar.

3. On an Apple Mac, close the "System Preferences" window by either clicking on the red circle at the top left of the floating window, or by selecting "System Preferences" and then clicking on "Quit System Preferences." The selection will be saved automatically.

   On Windows XP, it is possible to test the sensitivity by double-clicking the folder icon. Click "Apply" to save.

Tips & Warnings

• The tracking speed and scrolling speed of the mouse also can be changed under the "Mouse" section in "System Preferences" on a Mac, or the "Pointer Options" and "Wheel" tabs in Windows.

• Changing the sensitivity of the mouse keys will affect both the left and right key. Making one key more sensitive than the other is not possible without specialist hardware.
