How to Manually Eject a DVD From a Laptop
When you play a DVD disc on your laptop, a collaboration between software and hardware must happen to show video on your LCD screen. Laptop DVD drives are technically a separate component connected to the motherboard. Possible glitches that can cause a disc to stick in the drive include outdated firmware in the drive, broken mechanical parts or the software program, such as Windows Media Player or Quicktime, is unable to read and play the disc on the laptop. Most DVD drives include a release button to help you unstick the disc.

3
Look around the side or front of the laptop where the DVD drive is located. Safely tilt the laptop towards a bright light so that you can see the drive door. Find the recessed pinhole near the "Eject" button, but don't press "Eject."
-
4
Grasp the paper clip or pin between your fingers and gently insert it into the pinhole. As you press farther into the hole, you will feel the pin hit a small button on the inside of the DVD drive's frame.
-
5
Press the pin with slightly more force so that the button feels and sounds like it is been pushed down and making a connection. Pressing this internal button emulates pressing the "Eject" button on the door, but does not require electrical power. When the button is pressed down completely, the DVD drive door will eject with the DVD disc.

Do not jam the pin into the slot too fast or with too much force as you may damage the drive's internal components.
