How to Flash to MetroPCS

How to Flash to MetroPCS thumbnail
Change networks, keep the phone.

A great way to lower phone bills is to change providers. Many people are taking their phones to cheaper prepaid networks such as MetroPCS and cutting their bills in half. There is no need to purchase a phone; just about any phone can be flashed over to work on the MetroPCS network. MetroPCS uses HoudiniSoft flashing software to enable the phones customers already have to work on their network. The flashing process occurs in the store and the dealer will complete the process for you.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the HoudiniSoft program and log in. Click "Next" on the warning screen that pops up.

    • 2

Connect the phone to the computer and click "Detect" and then wait for the program to detect the handset brand and model.

    • 3

Select MetroPCS from the drop-down list on the "Select target carrier" screen that displays after detection. Then click "Next."

    • 4

Verify that the handset model and target carrier are correct. If not, click on "Change" and correct one or both as needed. Once both are correct, click "Provision" located near the bottom right. Wait for the provisioning and signal strength test to complete.

    • 5

Disconnect the phone from the computer after the signal strength test has been passed and the screen changes, asking "What would you like to do next?" At this point the flashing process has been completed.

Tips & Warnings

  • The flashing process takes only moments to complete. However, it can take up to two hours for the phone to be added to the MetroPCS inventory and become available for activation on the network. Therefore it is recommended that you drop the phone off and come back to pick it up later.

  • MetroPCS allows insurance on flashed phones, which will need to be added the day you activate the phone.

  • Not all phone models are eligible to be flashed onto the MetroPCS network. Check with the dealer for current information on models eligible.
