Frontline Plus for cats is a topical flea treatment that kills adult fleas and interrupts the growth cycle of immature fleas. Each application of Frontline Plus works for approximately one month to kill fleas and ticks. Frontline Plus for cats is labeled for use on cats and kittens eight weeks and older. It is applied between the shoulder blades so the cat can't lick it off.

Instructions

1. Shop around on-line for a good deal (the price of Frontline Plus varies slightly) but make sure the company you deal with sells legitimate Frontline products. The EPA warns that there are counterfeits of the product, so buy only from well-known pet supply companies.

2. Compare the shipping cost of each company. For example, if one company sells the product for $70 and charges $9.95 shipping, while another sells it for $75 but only charges $2.25 shipping, then the latter company actually offers the best deal.

3. Multiply the number of cats you have times the number of months you will apply the flea medicine to determine how much you need to buy. Frontline Plus is most frequently sold in three-month (three applications) and six-month (six applications) packages. You don't have to buy a whole year's worth at one time, of course.

4. Visit a veterinarian to purchase Frontline Plus if your cat needs the product immediately. Some veterinarians will sell one application at a time.

• There are two types of Frontline. Frontline kills adult fleas only. Frontline Plus kills adult fleas, plus the flea eggs and larvae.
