How to Upload Photos From My E-mail Account to a Photo Account
Adding attachments to e-mails allows users to send digital files to another user to download and view. These attachments include word-processing documents, music files and digital photographs. Recipients of these photographs sometimes want to post them in other locations, including photo-hosting websites like Facebook, Flickr or Picasa. The user can do this easily if he has a basic knowledge of Internet uploading and downloading.
Instructions
-
Download Photos from E-mail to Hard Drive to Photo Account
-
1
Open the e-mail message that has the attached photo you wish to post. E-mails with attachments are designated by a small paperclip symbol next to the subject line.
-
2
Double-click on the attachment hyperlink. In the window that appears, click "Save."
-
-
3
Create a new file name for your file in the second window that appears, under "File Name." Choose a location where your file will be stored on your hard drive using the drop-down menu at the top of the window. For easy access, you can use the Desktop or "My Documents" buttons on the left side of the window.
-
4
Log in to your photo-sharing account. Register for an account with one of these sites if you do not already have one. Find URLs for these sites in Resources.
-
5
Once you are logged in, click "Upload" to begin selecting photos. Depending on your host, a window will appear or you will be taken to a new screen allowing you to check boxes next to photos you wish to upload. Return to the location where you stored your e-mailed photos in Step 3 to locate your pictures.
-
6
Click "OK" or "Next" to proceed with the upload. Enter information for the album title, location and date when prompted.
E-mail Photos as Attachments to Photo Accounts for Upload
-
7
Open the email that has the attached photo you want to post.
-
8
Click "Forward." This will bring you to a new message template where the subject and body of the e-mail message are the same as the one you were just reading. The "To:" line will be empty. Attachments will also be the same.
-
9
Register with your photo-hosting site for an automatic uploading e-mail address. Many photo-hosting sites like Flickr and Picasa allow you to e-mail photos as attachments to the sites for automatic upload. This requires that you log in to your photo account, click "Settings" and then "Automatic Email Upload." Input a word that will be used to create an e-mail address you will use to upload photos.
-
10
Fill in the "To:" section of this forwarded e-mail with the e-mail address you have created with your photo account in Step 3.
-
11
Delete the body of the message, but do not delete the attached photos. Write in the subject line of the e-mail what you want the photo caption to be. Click "Send," and your photos will be automatically uploaded to your photo-hosting site.
