As is the case with most, if not all, electronics and software, resetting a device or software can fix so many issues. This is no different with Internet Explorer (IE). Resetting IE "is useful for troubleshooting problems that might be caused by settings that were changed after installation" according to Microsoft. To avoid the possibility of losing any important data, you may want to double-check your history for any important URLs before beginning the reset process.

      Close all Internet Explorer windows and then restart the web browser.

      Click "Tools" and then select "Internet Options."

      Open the "Advanced" tab and then select "Reset."

      If you would like to delete your personal settings, such as your homepage, browsing history and search provider, check the "Delete personal settings" check box.

      Click "reset" on the "Reset Internet Explorer Settings" dialog box, select "Close" when the reset process completes, and then hit "OK." Close the browser; your settings will take effect the next time you start Internet Explorer.
