How to Stop the Apple QuickTime Picture Viewer From Being the Default thumbnail
Change the default image settings on your computer system.

When viewing images on your computer, you have several programs from which to choose. However, only one software title works as the default program. This is the program that automatically opens when an image is selected. If QuickTime has become the default viewer but you want to use a different title, adjust the settings so images stop automatically loading into QuickTime.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to an image you have saved on the computer. It does not matter which image or its location on the hard drive.

    • 2

Right-click the file and select "Properties" from the pull-down menu. A new window appears, displaying all the features of the file.

    • 3

Locate the "Open With" option. QuickTime is set as the default setting. Choose a different image viewing program (your options are listed) and click "OK." Exit out of the menu and double-click the image. The picture file now loads in the newly selected software. All images now will load, by default, into the newly selected program.
