How to Change Desktop Themes in Windows Vista

Windows Vista allows you to change the desktop theme from the default Vista theme. The theme includes the desktop interface, including the start menu. It also includes the icons. The alternative theme available in Vista is the Windows Classic theme. You can easily toggle between the two themes. If you've installed a third-party theme for your Vista computer, you can also use it as the desktop theme.

Instructions

1. Click on the taskbar Windows icon to open the Vista start menu. Click on "Control Panel," and then click on "Appearance and Personalization."

2. Click on "Personalization," and then click on "Theme." This opens the Theme window.

3. Click on the arrow beneath "Theme" and select your theme from the list. If you have installed third-party or custom themes, they will show up in this menu.

4. Click on "Apply," and then click "Ok." Close the window. The changes should take place immediately. If they do not, try restarting your computer.
