Instructions

    • 1

Examine the power cord for any broken wiring. If there are any breaks in the wiring, take the unit to a repair shop to have the power cord replaced.

    • 2

Release the containment canister from the front of the system. Remove the filter from the canister, and empty the contents into a trashcan. Wash the filter out with warm water, and then leave it to dry for a couple of hours.

    • 3

Remove the hose. Unhook the hose from the bottom of the unit, and then unhook it where it connects with the containment canister. Remove any clogs that you find in the hose, and run hot water through the hose to clear out any other dirt.

    • 4

Remove any clogs from the hole where the hose met the containment canister.

    • 5

Release the vacuum so it lays flat on the floor. Turn it over, and use a screwdriver to remove the screws holding the base plate onto the bottom of the unit. Pull the base plate off the unit to reveal the brush roller, belt and motor pulley.

    • 6

Pull the brush roller out of the unit, and remove the belt from the brush roller. Wash the brush roller off with warm water, and remove any hair or carpet fibers.

    • 7

Pull the belt off the motor pulley, and replace it with a new belt if needed. Replace the belt if it is broken or if there are any cracks or tears in the belt. To replace the belt, loop the belt around the motor pulley, and then loop it around the belt groove on the brush roller. Stretch the belt so the brush roller can fit into the housing.

    • 8

Replace the base plate and the screws holding it on. Replace the hoses, the containment canister and the filter. Plug your Bissell vacuum into the wall, and turn it on to test the unit out.
