How to Edit HTML in Notepad
There's no need to use web design software if you have experience working with HTML code. The code itself can be managed in a text-based program called Notepad, which is pre-installed on Windows-based computers. As soon as the HTML file is opened, the code is at your disposal.

1
Locate the HTML file that you wish to edit on your computer. If the file is still online, open your browser window, go to the web page, and then click "File" and "Save" in the navigation bar. Name the file and choose "Web page, HTML only" under the "Save as type" dropdown menu.
-
2
Right-click the saved HTML file. Select "Open with" and then "Notepad."

3
Edit the HTML in the Notepad window. The code is displayed line by line, allowing you to alter, add or delete as much as you want. Unlike some web design software, Notepad will not inform you about any errors in your HTML coding.
-
4
Select "File" and "Save" to overwrite the changes to your HTML file. Minimize Notepad's window.
-
5
Right-click once again on the HTML file. Select "Open with." This time choose a web browser.
-
6
Preview your changes in the browser.
