How to Repair a DNS in XP

The DNS (domain name service) information on your Windows XP computer is information provided to you by your Internet service provider, enabling your computer to contact the appropriate DNS service for your online requests. Repair the DNS information in your XP computer when it has become corrupt or invalid by re-requesting the information from your ISP.

      Click "Start" and "Run."

      Type "cmd" and press "Enter."

    • 3

      Type "ipconfig /release." Press "Enter."

    • 4

      Type "ipconfig /renew." Press "Enter" to renew your IP information, repairing and requesting new DNS information from your ISP.
