How to Tell What Windows Internet Explorer Version I Have

Since some websites are optimized for certain versions of Internet Explorer (IE), you may need to know the specific IE version you are running on your computer. Fortunately, IE provides an easy way to find out this information. Knowing your IE version lets you know if you have the most up-to-date version of the software. This is especially important because newer software tend to address, if not fix, common issues reported by IE users.

Instructions

1. Click the Windows "Start" menu and select "Internet Explorer."

2. Launch the "Help" drop-down menu by pressing and holding down on both the "Alt" and "H" keys on your keyboard.

3. Find out what version of IE you are using by selecting "About Internet Explorer" from the "Help" menu. IE displays its version number next to the "Version" field.
