How to Use a Xerox Machine Safely
Xerox has such widespread brand recognition that Xerox machines have become nearly synonymous with copy machines. Xerox traces its roots back to 1906 and now operates in 160 countries. If you are going to make copies using a Xerox machine, you will want to use the machine safely to avoid damaging the machine or hurting yourself. Follow instructions and prompts from the machine and use the machine for its intended purposes to ensure you use the machine safely.

Insert paper into the paper tray. Xerox machines have one or more paper trays that draw blank sheets of paper into the machine for copying. The tray indicates the number of sheets of paper that can be loaded. Do not overfill the machine because this can lead to excessive paper jams.

Place your documents in the feeder tray or on the copying area. If you are using the document feeder tray to copy multiple papers, remove all paper clips or staples and do not overload the document feeder tray. This prevents the feeder tray from jamming and becoming damaged.

Select the function you wish to perform on the Xerox machine. If it is a multifunction machine, choose the fax, copy or scan option and then enter the number of copies to be made or the fax number to send to. Hit the "Start" button when complete.

Select any additional options for your copy or fax job. Many Xerox machines allow you to choose to have your job collated or stapled. You can also magnify the size of the image if you wish by using the Xerox machine's menu.

Remove your original documents, any copies and fax status sheets from the Xerox machine.

Tips & Warnings
Never sit on the Xerox machine--this can break the machine and injure you with broken glass.
Do not place your face on the copying area to make a copy.
