Connect a Mac monitor to your PC system.

Mac computers tend to have incredibly large viewing monitors. This makes it easier to view the content of the system (especially when video editing or playing video games). However, if you have both a PC and a Mac, but don't want to buy a different monitor for both systems, it is possible to hook up the Mac monitor to both computers; you just can't use both computers at the same time.

Things You'll Need

  • Mac monitor
  • DVI splitter cable

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the single end of the DVI splitter cable into the DVI port on the back of the Mac monitor.

    • 2

Hand-tighten the screws along the side of the cable. This secures the cable connection to the monitor, preventing it from becoming disconnected.

    • 3

Connect the two opposite ends of the DVI splitter cable into the DVI port on the back of both computer systems. As with the opposite end of the cable, make sure the screws are hand tight to secure the connection.

    • 4

Power on the Mac monitor, then turn on one computer system at a time. Sending both video signals to the monitor at the same time is not going work, as the monitor is only capable of detecting one signal at a time.
