Instructions for Playing Mario Kart DS
"Mario Kart" the video game is a spin-off of the Nintendo series that launched with "Super Mario." This version has Mario and other characters from the series racing over multiple tracks. The race isn't just around ovals or turns as each player uses items found on the track to knock other racers out of place. "Mario Kart" is available on several Nintendo platforms, and was released for Nintendo DS in 2005.

Push "Start" from the title screen. The "A" button is used to accelerate and the "B" button to stop or drive in reverse. The "Y" button will change the screen to full size or zoom it in. The "Select" button will blow up balloons during the balloon battle. The "Start" button will pause the game. At the top of the game system the "Left" button will fire a weapon or use an item, and the "Right" button will make the kart hop or even drift while driving around turns.

Push the "A" button to pick the character you will be playing with. Each character has his own kart handling type and drives differently. Special characters are available, but there are secrets you have to find in the game to unlock them. Accomplish the missions in each track to open the next.

Play in the cup races to compete against other drivers controlled by the computer. Drive over question mark blocks to obtain an item to be used against other drivers. Play the Time Trial mode to beat each track record or the VS mode to challenge other players. Pop each person's kart balloons to win. Play all the race tracks and win to claim trophies that unlock additional karts.
