Blocking websites is useful in case you want to restrict what your children look at online, or if your employees are spending too much time on sites that they shouldn't. In Firefox there is no inbuilt method, on an Apple Mac, for blocking websites. Firefox does have a large selection of extensions and add-ons for the open-source Web browser. One of these add-ons will help you block the websites that you want.

Instructions

      Go to the BlockSite add-on page, click "Download" and then click "Add to Firefox" to install the add-on.

      Click "Restart Firefox" to finalize the installation process.

      Double-click "BlockSite" or single-click it, followed by "Preferences," to load the options.

      Click "Enable authentication" and then type a password in the "New password" box.

    • 5

      Click "Add" and then type in a Web address. Repeat this process with all websites that you want to block in Firefox. Then click "OK" to save changes. If you set up a password, you will be prompted to enter it every time you try to change the "BlockSite" details.
