How to Make a Wasp Nest with Colored Paper
Wasps build nests by chewing up small pieces of wood and using the resulting wood pulp, mixed with wasp saliva, to create their homes. The resulting nest often appears to be made from paper pulp, which is not too far from the truth, considering that wood pulp is used to make paper. You can build a paper wasp nest using colored construction paper and craft glue. Don't worry about the construction, as you won't need to chew up any paper to build your craft wasp nest.

Cut colored paper into two-inch by two-inch squares. Each square of paper will form one cell of the wasp nest, so cut as many as necessary to build a small or large nest.

Wrap one square of paper around a pencil to form a paper tube.

Tape the edge of the paper with clear tape to hold the tube in place and slide it off the pencil. Continue this process to form all of your paper squares into paper tubes.

Glue the paper tubes together with white craft glue. Apply the glue to the sides of the tubes and arrange them so that the openings of the tubes are all facing the same direction.

Wait for the glue to dry when you are finished building the cells of your wasp nest.

Brush white craft glue onto one side of a tissue paper square slightly larger than the diameter of your wasp nest.

Place the tissue paper onto the top of your wasp nest and smooth it down the edges of the paper tubes. The paper will cover the cell openings on the top of the nest. Leave the bottom openings clear for the wasps to enter and exist the nest.

Glue a piece of string or yarn to the center of the tissue paper to hang your wasp nest.

It would seem. that every wasp nest has an artist in residence, some colors seem to be from Iris flowers and rose munchings. these I have located in the center of the nest covering passageways to the comb site.Lee.
