How to Bake With a Belgian Waffle Maker
Belgian waffle makers are generally used to make waffles but you can also bake waffle-shaped cakes, brownies, muffins or quick breads in your waffle maker. Any batter thin enough to be poured will bake in a Belgian waffle maker. Avoid thick doughs such as cookie or yeast bread doughs that cannot be easily spread over the cooking surface. The finished baked goods will have the same flavor as their original recipes but may be crispier than those baked in standard pans in your oven. Does this Spark an idea?
Instructions

1
Mix your batter following the original recipe directions. You should not need to modify the recipe for use in a waffle maker as long as the batter is pourable.
-
2
Plug in your Belgian waffle maker and allow it to preheat. Most waffle makers have a signal light to indicate when the waffle grids are hot enough to use so look for the signal light.
-
-
3
Dampen a paper towel with vegetable oil and wipe the hot cooking surface of the waffle iron to prevent your baked goods from sticking. Be careful not to burn yourself as the waffle grids are extremely hot.
-
4
Pour 1/2 cup of batter onto the center of your Belgian waffle maker. Spread the batter with a spatula to fill the waffle grid and add more batter if necessary. Try to fill the bottom grid without overflowing the sides of the waffle maker.
-
5
Close the waffle maker. If you have a flip-side waffle maker, flip it over and begin timing your baked goods.
-
6
Bake the batter for approximately four minutes.
-
7
Open the waffle maker and gently remove the baked good from the waffle maker with a spatula or fork.
-
8
Cut open the baked good and inspect its texture and flavor. If it is too gooey, cook the next batch for five minutes. If it seems burnt, cook the next batch for only three minutes.
