How to Become a Contractor for Direct TV

DIRECTV is a commercial television satellite system that is an alternative to cable television services. The company also offers DVR, High Definition TV, 3-D TV, movies On Demand and Internet services. It is available to hotels, homes, hospitals, vehicles and airplanes in the United States and Latin America. Retail businesses contract with the company to provide satellites and receivers to customers. An independent installation contractor works with individual homes, multi-residential units and commercial customers. Installation contractors are trained to undertake the on site set-up process of the satellites and customer service practices.

Contracted Installer

1. Visit the DIRECTV website or call the toll free line at 1-800-383-4388 to locate the Master System Operator in your area. Call the dealer services number at 1-800-323-1994 to make inquiries about DIRECTV installation contractors.

2. Fill out the online application to become a system installation technician for DIRECTV or one of the Home Service Providers contract retailers that provide the equipment to customers. The application is found on the DIRECTV website.

3. Contact the local Master System Operator to take part in the training program that is available after the application is accepted.

4. Attend the training sessions. Study all materials that are provided to learn how to be an installation technician contractor.

Contracted Retailer

1. Access the DIRECTV retailer website.

2. Read the information and instructions on the site to learn what is expected of a retail contractor. Study the various types of retailers to determine which one is best suited for your location and interest.

3. Read the application check list and gather the needed materials that must be supplied to the company. This includes a photo of an existing retail business that the operation will be located in. Add proof of liability insurance, business license, sales tax identification permit and required financial statements.

4. Scan the necessary documents and upload them on to a computer with Internet access.

5. Fill in the application form on the DIRECTV site. Add the required documents and forward the information to the company.
