How to Make Do-It-Yourself Winter Storm Windows
Making storm windows is at the top of the to-do list when preparing for the winter season. Buying plastic every year is a waste of money when you can make something stronger and more durable. Storm windows help keep the warm air inside your house, instead of letting the cold air in around your windows. Save some money on your heating costs and install storm windows. Things You'll Need
- 4 pieces of wood, 1-by-2, for each window
- Tape measure
- Plexiglas
- Box cutter
- Drill
- Screws
- 4 L-shaped brackets for each window
- 2 window clips for each window

Measure the inside of each window with a tape measure.

Cut a piece of Plexiglas for each window with a box cutter. If you're not able to cut the Plexiglas, some stores that carry Plexiglas will cut it down for you.

Place the cut Plexiglas in the window and put a 1-by-2 piece of wood around the Plexiglas to make a frame. Screw the wooden frame to the Plexiglas.

Put four L-shaped brackets into the original window frame to secure the storm window. You can also put in two window clips for extra security.

Tips & Warnings
Once the winter months are over, put away your storm windows in a storage shed or garage for easy access in the following years.
